    1. Author Lisa Shea writes an amazing and moving story about a Black/Native American woman who is caught in an abusive relationship. I found the characters, settings and actions true-to-life. You truly care about the main character and can't wait to see where the next book will take her story!I highly recommend Across the River--it's a novella (a short read) that takes an honest look at the issues of women, race and relationships set in the 1800s.
