A very enjoyable tale not all light and frothy, explained some of the horrors of WWI for the ordinary soldier. I realised fairly early on that this was a sequel and wish I had taken the time to find that out before reading it but overall, an excellent read. I had been put off this author by continual comparison to Jodi Picoult (who was fine to start with, but now always seems to write with 'a cause' in mind), and will definitely read more of her work.

Este livro surpreendeu-me pela positiva.Já tinha lido alguns livros da Lesley Pearse, mas a certa altura comecei a ficar desiludida com tanta tragédia. Todas as personagens principais viviam rodeadas pela desgraça e por mais que lutassem nunca saíam desta espiral de má sorte. O primeiro volume desta saga acabou do mesmo modo e abandonei esta história. Passados alguns anos, decidi dar mais uma oportunidade a "Belle" e não me arrependo.

I have read all of Lesley Pearse's books and she never lets me down. Truly a page-turner.

War is devastating, cruel & awful. Belle believes she has her dream life but her past returns to haunt her. She hesitates which way to go & which live to take. (This was the second book I read from Lesley Pearse. She is a good story teller)

I'm pretty sure that this must be one of the most epic World War 1 romance series ever written. As frustrating as it was that Belle cheated on her husband that one night in France (there's a huge back story to that scene, it wasn't frivolous or gratuitous but it was cheating, even if they thought that they might never see each other again) I was so engrossed in the story that it would have been completely impossible to stop listening. I read survivor first and I was so intrigued by the story that I was interested in reading Belle's story. I have laughed and cried with the whole story. it is hard to believe how much belle has been through in her life, but she is still a strong and confident young woman. I was over the moon that she ended up with Etienne in the end. He was her true love, they were destined to be together. I would recommend this trilogy to anyone. This was the sequel to Belle the story went on much to my delight as I wanted to find out more about what happened to belle, along with this it was very interesting to read more about the war and what went on when Belle decided to join as an ambulance driver, the story had my emotions all over the place , I would defiantly recommend belle then read the promise.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down. You can really feel a connection with Belle and share in her sorrow and triumphs. I liked the description of Belle's relationships, how she expresses her love and the difficulties they faced during the war. A lovely story.

I found this book at a small book store on holiday as I needed something to read. Now I'm hooked to this author. I love the stories, the characters and found the entire novel completely compelling. I couldn't put it down, and had to then order the other two books in this trilogy.
